Xinjiang "Vision" Lecture Hall: Wang Huaming, the first academician in the field of 3D printing, shares "scientific and technological knowledge"

To deepen the implementation of the "Action Plan for National Scientific Literacy (2021-2035)" and promote science education and popularization in higher education, the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Association for Science and Technology has opened the "Vision" Lecture Hall. By inviting renowned academicians to give a series of lectures, we aim to promote the spirit of science and scientists, disseminate cutting-edge technological advancements, inspire young scholars and university students to establish a sense of patriotism and the pursuit of innovative development.

In the first session of the "Vision" lecture, Wang Huaming, an academician of the CAE Member and a professor of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, was specially invited as the opening guest. With the report entitled "Laser Additive Manufacturing Technology for High Performance Metal Structural Materials and Its Impact on Major Equipment Materials, Structures and Manufacturing Industry", he had face-to-face exchanges with more than 110 undergraduate, master, doctoral students and young teachers in Xinjiang universities to talk about China's "innovation road of 3D printing technology", promote academic exchanges, cultivate young students' diversified professional qualities, broaden their horizons and horizons, and encourage them to establish lofty and ambitious career ideals.

Academician Wang Huaming is a leader in China's laser 3D printing technology and the first academician in the field of "metal 3D printing" technology in China. The 3D laser additive manufacturing technology for new energy and new materials developed by his team has achieved an innovative breakthrough in the direct manufacturing of large and complex metal components using lasers, making China the only country in the world to break through the laser rapid prototyping technology for aircraft titanium alloy large main load-bearing structural components and realize installation applications.

Many teachers and PhDs from Xinjiang University and Xinjiang Institute of Engineering have completed their doctoral dissertations based on the literature of Academician Wang Huaming. They are excited to hear Academician Wang's report on site and have been waiting for him for a long time. They have many academic issues that they want to discuss and exchange with Academician Wang. Therefore, after the "Vision" lecture hall, an interactive communication session was specially designed for academicians and teachers and students of Xinjiang universities to discuss and exchange academic issues.

The purpose of creating the "Vision" Lecture Hall is to build a bridge connecting academicians with Xinjiang research elites and master's and doctoral students, and to construct a high-level academic exchange hall. This platform aims to enable Xinjiang's scientific and technological talents to keep up with the latest research progress and trends in related fields, and contribute innovative thinking and guidance to promote the deepening of scientific research innovation and the growth of industrial development.
