On average, every three months, a new machine

Tuozhu Technology officially launched its first shot in April 2022, launching the high-speed multi-color 3D printer X1 series, followed by the Bambu Lab P1P in November of the same year. In July 2023, the company further released the upgraded P1S version of P1P. In September 2023, Tuozhu entered the low-priced market and launched the desktop 3D printer A1 mini for entry-level users. In December of the same year, Tuozhu once again expanded its product line and announced the launch of a larger A1 3D printer. At this point, Tuozhu has completed its comprehensive layout in the high-end, medium, and low-end consumer 3D printer market.

What is the next step? Five months have passed, and Tuozhu is still quiet. But without a doubt, there must be a big trick brewing behind it.

No news, maybe we can make predictions

Obviously, we cannot directly obtain unpublished product information from the Tuozhu official. But what is certain is that they will launch a new flagship 3D printer in 2024.

Speculation 1: "L" series independent dual nozzle large-size 3D printer

"We need a bigger machine," I believe Tuozhu has heard the user's voice and is fully prepared. In short, this is likely a machine that can print larger sizes and be equipped with two AMS (Automatic Material Supply System) at the same time. Most importantly, it is equipped with at least two independent tool heads and can be expanded to four in the future, truly supporting multi material printing.

While Tuozhu is launching multi-color printing, foreign Prusa XL machines can also support printing of up to five colors. However, Prusa adopts different technical solutions, allowing for the operation of up to five independent tool heads through optional tool changers, making multi color, multi material printing possible. The design of this tool changing device can effectively reduce material waste, as it does not require excessive material washing.

The existing AMS system is mostly used for multi-color printing. If Tuozhu wants to promote multi material printing, independent multi tool heads will be the ideal solution. However, Tuozhu will not simply replicate Prusa's plan, but will further iterate based on its existing AMS multi-color technology. Using IDEX independent dual nozzles, when one print head is printing, the other parked print head can be replaced.

As for whether upgrades will be made to existing models, it is evident that the A1 model with a gantry structure is not suitable for larger scale expansion, while the P1 series with a Core XY structure appears more suitable. In addition, the new model may abandon the common combination of optical axes or carbon rods with synchronous belts and stepper motors, and instead adopt more advanced magnetic levitation linear motor systems. Assuming that the new model will be named with the first letter "L" of "Large", namely Bambu Lab L1 and L1 Max, the former has a molding size of about 500mm, while the latter can print parts up to 1 meter long.

Speculation 2: "R" series high-efficiency intelligent LCD 3D printer

After encountering competitors in the consumer grade FDM 3D printing field, Tuozhu is likely to officially enter the LCD light curing 3D printing market. Due to the fact that Tuozhu has not previously disclosed any information about such machines, it is difficult to make accurate speculations. But what we can be certain of is that the existing technology functions on the market, such as fully automatic leveling, intelligent detection system, automatic feeding and discharging, printing and curing in one, should be able to be achieved by Tuozhu's LCD printer.

However, having only these features clearly cannot meet the high expectations of the public. If dual wavelength printing, multi-color printing, or other similar new technologies can be achieved, then the expected market value can be truly achieved. Of course, we hope that Tuozhu's "R" series machines can have a more fashionable and technological appearance design, at least with a clear difference from existing machines.

It is an expectation, a true new quality productivity

Our vision has always been for 3D printers to enter the homes of ordinary people, but more than a decade has passed, and this goal still seems unattainable. However, with the addition of Tuozhu, everyone seems to see a glimmer of hope. Many users have inquired about when Tuozhu will release a new model and have expressed their readiness to purchase it immediately once the new model is launched. This situation shows us that a machine that combines software, firmware, and hardware perfectly can truly attract users to purchase.

The currently popular concept of "new quality productivity" still emphasizes the importance of innovation. Therefore, many people do not need a 3D printer, but rather a 3D printer that can truly be used as a production tool. It needs to have sufficient intelligence, high speed, and a crucial feature - stability.

Finally, TCT Asia Exhibition is coming soon, which is one of the busiest exhibitions in the industry. At such large-scale exhibitions, most companies will choose to release new machines. As one of the exhibitors, will Tuozhu bring us surprises? Let's wait and see. However, based on our understanding, it is highly unlikely that Tuozhu will launch a new product this time, as it is Tuozhu and does not follow the usual path.
