According to Anhui Daily, on July 23rd, the reporter learned from the University of Science and Technology of China that the first batch of undergraduate students majoring in quantum information science has officially graduated and achieved full staff further education. This marks the establishment of the first integrated talent training system for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in "Quantum Information Science and Technology" at the University of Science and Technology of China, forming a comprehensive platform for cultivating high-level quantum technology talents.

The University of Science and Technology of China has a solid disciplinary foundation. In 1998, it launched the course "Introduction to Quantum Information" and was the earliest domestic university to carry out quantum information teaching activities. The school has also achieved significant scientific research results in the field of quantum technology. In 2021, the University of Science and Technology of China established its first undergraduate program in quantum information science, becoming the first university in China to be approved to establish a major in quantum information science. This major aims at the forefront and key areas of technology, promotes the integration and innovation of different disciplines, focuses on specific key areas, innovates the training mode of future leading talents in scientific and technological innovation, and cultivates high-level composite talents urgently needed by the country.

The school has admitted 23 undergraduate students majoring in Quantum Information Science for the first time in the School of Physics and the Junior College. On the basis of general physics courses and basic courses, this major focuses on establishing core courses and elective courses in quantum information science. At the same time, it integrates courses such as Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning from the School of Information Science, forming a multidisciplinary and interconnected curriculum system. This summer, these 23 undergraduate students graduated smoothly as scheduled and achieved comprehensive further education for all, embarking on a new starting point of higher levels in quantum science research.
